Ossie and Elaine Rentsch demonstrate and explain the Bowen Technique

The origin of the Bowen Technique

Thomas Ambrose Bowen (1916-1982)

The Bowen Technique is named after its developer Thomas Bowen of Geelong, Australia.  Bowen began developing this technique in the 1950s and continued to refine it throughout his lifetime.  Bowen recognized how the body responds more deeply and positively to low pressure stimuli (Arndt-Schulze Law).  To employ this principle, Bowen used a unique stretch and roll method to reset the tension of specific muscle groups, followed by brief pauses that allow the body to respond to that stimuli.

Thankfully, this wonderful technique was preserved and introduced to the world by Oswald Rentsch - one of six men who observed Bowen's work.
